One of the many topics once discussed at IESE was that of “making assumptions.” From what I can remember, the outcome of that discussion was “never make assumptions, period!” Right, to test the statement I assumed that, when Jay-Z came to town for a concert, that other would make pictures of the show for me. Indeed I was right, I was able to locate a few shots. Last Saturday I went to another hip-hop concert and made a similar assumption about the ability to locate images of the show. This time the stakes were higher; smaller venue thus less concert-go-ers and lesser-known artists. Yet again I was able to find a few shots for my 5+ loyal blog readers. Enjoy the phoots, keep making those assumptions and let's see if it works after Nov 9th concert of Ice Cube!

Drive By

Noelle had landed in Amsterdam for a lightening short visit, part of her "Meet Fellow Bloggers Around The World Tour." It took less than 2 minutes this morning to deplete the entire stroopwafel stock at Albert Heijn! Forget wooden shoes as a souvenir, Noelle directly went for the "other" good stuff that Holland offers the world.

Welcome to Alexander and congratulations to Jacques, Loura for their second son!

Concert Time Again

Concert halls in Holland are running on over-time. On the 9th of November Ice Cube will entertain a crowd at Paradiso, Amsterdam! An unbelievable chance to see the former N.W.A. star perform songs from his platinum selling albums.

Before the Ice Cube concert, Opgezwolle and Typhoon will perform at P3 in Purmerend. I am already looking forward to these ocncerts! Of course pictures will follow for the loyal blog readers!

Another week has passed by

Let's see, no photo's, no blog post? Seems that way, but since last month I have a brand new camera, so no excuse not to post anything.

Herengracht & Wijde Steeg, horses still exist in Holland

Friday, meeting in Belgium and crossing the Dutch/Belgium border; one of Holland's iconic windmills is missing a blade!

Zorro, my uncle's Belgium Sheppard.

Sunday, live show at Scheltema Booksellers by BNR, the radio station i interned at last summer.

Some serious people discussing investment options.

Magical Switzerland

Again a (long) weekend spent in Switzerland. This time a good reason for celebration, because my parents were married for 35 years! Okay, where to start? Delayed flight, getting lost on mountain roads in a crappy rental car, or getting pampered at an excellent resort while celebrating a happy occasion or the amazing views during walks? I think the pictures would speak for themselves!

Leiden & Knees

After a more then excellent weekend it is back to business again with a complete OR day on Monday which started at 8 AM. An impression of the weekend:

Sunday; day trip to the city of Leiden. A nostalgic moment, my fraternity building; home to many years of social development.

More of Leiden, windmills and cute bridges.

More views of Leiden, this time from the Burgh. (small hill in the city center)

The birth house of Rembrandt, you know, the painter who turned 400 this year.

and you thought only Amsterdam had canals; Leiden as well.

Monday morning; that is me in the back assisting with the knee.
